Westland HAS.1 Wasp

NZ3907

oops

Taken aboard HMNZS Southland at the Port of Tauranga, August 1991. This view shows the Wasp from the starboard nose. Its clearly a tight fit, with little space between the ceiling and the flotation gear/ rearward folded rotors atop the aircraft. Apparently the aircraft can be launched in less than two minutes. A Mark 46 practice torpedo (painted orange) is mounted below the aircraft.
