June 20, 1998
The Fly-in was hosted by Ken and Ruth Castleton at their 600 metre strip on the outskirts of Te Awamutu. Held on a beautifully clear Winter's day, the objective was to provide an opportunity for a gathering of classic aircraft. Pilots and their passengers flew in from a wide area around the North Island for a barbeque lunch, and a chance to chat and compare aircraft. Amongst the attendees were two DH-82a Tiger Moths, two Austers, six Piper Cubs, and a smattering of other types. These included a Stinson 108, Tripacer, Bolkow Junior, and some older Cessnas.
Shown below are a few images from the day!
